This spectacular example has just emerged from a total nut and bolt restoration. With works taking 3 years to complete. The car is now in ‘virtually as new condition’
There is a huge history file and all photographs and receipts for restoration are present. The restoration works cost around £27,000 plus 1500 hours labour between 2007 and 2010. Plus the initial cost of the car. The car unused, since completion.
It is finished in Volvo gunmetal grey basecoat and lacquer paintwork with all new red vinyl interior trim. This car is one of the early Jensen produced cars being chassis number 5918 of 6000 built. The Jensen built cars are now very few in numbers and are therefore far more desirable and collectable than the later models. The early cars are different in that the dashboard and interiors have a more glamorous appearance then the newer cars. Also fitted are the desirable ‘cow horn’ style chrome bumpers. The front grille protrudes more, the front scuttle moulding is larger, and unique to the Jensen cars are the Volvo script badges on the rear roof pillars. Also the full size stainless steel wheel discs are unique to this model.
The original intention was that his car was never to be sold after the restoration was completed, and all the works have been completed to an exceptionally high standard with this in mind. The car was purchased from its previous lady owner who owned it form 31 October 1970 until 1st June 2007. Substantial documentation is held on file including the purchase receipt when the owner purchased it in 1970 and a covering letter with details of ownership etc.
The P1800 model will always be associated with the 1960’s hit TV series ‘The Saint’ starring roger Moore as Simon Templer. This association and the beautiful classic lines and styling of the P1800 makes
investing very worthwhile. Prices are quite rapidly rising; they have been relatively undervalued in recent years.
Without doubt, this is the most expensive P1800 for sale in the UK. It is not possible to purchase one elsewhere in this condition. This genuinely is the best example available today.
May consider interesting part exchange. £29,999
