Triumph Spitfire (1968)
Triumph Spitfire Mk 3
Historic competition car built for hillclimbing, but still road usable. The suspension features adjustable AVO shocks all round, to keep its Dolomite Sprint alloys on the ground and driving. The engine (from Triumph specialist Jigsaw) is to full race spec apart from a little skim on the head to bring the compression up. Its fed by twin 40 Webers. The power of 115-120bhp at the crank (it was originally tested at 93bhp at thge wheels) is helped by a gloriously sounding custom exhaust. The steel body has had a fortune spent on restoration. A fibreglass hard top is fitted (a mohair soft top is available). The interior is not trimmed, it currently has its road seats in, but there is a Cobra competetion seat that I use on the hills. It has a firewall and a roll bar. This car did exactly what I wanted it for but is now not getting used and should be.
Service History:
Very little use since the race spec engine fitted.
