This Jaguar E-Type Series 4.2 Litre 1 Fixed Head Coupe was, according to its Heritage Certificate, dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York in November 1967 and then supplied to its first owner a R W Ansley. It remains finished in its original colours of Primrose Yellow with Black Leather. In 2014 this example was repatriated to the UK as an original example requiring minimal restoration; at that time the mileage was warranted at 49,000 now with just over 50,200 miles recorded, which given the age of the car is impossible for us to warrant, is in our opinion, very likely to be correct.

Once back on these shores the new owner commenced a programme of work to return the car to UK specification and the file hold invoice for all the parts procured to complete this work and at the same time bring the car into good mechanical condition.

In June 2016 the car was, works complete, professionally inspected for Peter Taylor Classic Car Insurance, who confirmed the car to be in good original condition, with all works carried out using correct parts to manufacturer's specifications.

At the close of the E-Type Series 1 production run, there were a small number of cars produced that are identical in every respect to other Series 1 units (including triple SU Carburettors, toggle switches, etc.), except that the headlight covers were removed for better illumination. These cars have become known as the Series 1 cars they were manufactured from August 1967 through to July 1968 but they were largely registered in 1968. While Jaguar itself never recognised the Series 1 at production; over time this sub-category has been recognised by the Jaguar Owners Club of Great Britain and other leading authorities. Our example bears the correct Chassis Number for what is now recognised as a Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe.
