Jaguar XJS V12 6.0 Litre (1993)
The Jaguar XJ-S and latterly the XJS, was produced by Jaguar from 1975 to 1996. 115,413 cars were produced during a 21-year production life. Although it never had quite the same sporting image as the E-Type, the XJS was a competent grand touring car, and more aerodynamic than the E-Type.
By 1989 more XJS variants had been produced and sold than E-Types but by 1990 sales were beginning to dip so the car was re-launched as the XJS following what was understood to be a £50 million investment programme. The XJS had almost an entirely new body-shell, which was easier to produce and galvanised.
The XJS V12's capacity was enlarged to 6.0 Litres in May 1992 and now produced over 300 bhp. At the same time the car benefited from a revision to the rear brakes, they were now fitted with outboard rear disc brakes, instead of the more complicated inboard items on previous models. The transmission was also updated to a GM 4L80E with a fourth-gear overdrive.
Our example was first registered in June 1993 (K Reg) and supplied by our local Jaguar Main Dealer Harwoods of Pulborough. Finished in Regency Red with Magnolia Hide this car looks just superb from every angle.
Serviced by Jaguar Main Dealers at: 6,500 miles; 10,200 miles; 17,900 miles; 22,500 miles; 30,200 mils; 37,600 miles; 44,900 miles; 48,500 miles; 50,800 miles 55,700 miles and 67,500 miles. This car was then purchased by Mr Keith Brown and formed part of an extensive collection. He has covered very few miles since with a reading now of just over 77,000. Upon our collection, she fired up with ease although our pre-sale preparation includes a full service and inspection just to make sure. The extent of works done will be recorded for the new owner.
If you are contemplating XJS ownership you will already know that the later 6.0 Litre cars are the ones to have either in Convertible or Coupe form along with the last Celebration models. Values have started to gather momentum in 2017 and that pattern has continued in 2018. In our opinion this example provides a very worthwhile ownership proposition.
