A rare Phase 1 Citroen Xantia 2.0i SX with one private owner and 21,806 miles.

Self-levelling suspension, adjustable suspension height, programmed self-steer rear axle, power-assisted steering, front seat belt pretensioners, driver’s airbag, high-security cruciform locks, front fog lamps, electric sunroof, electric windows, electric heated mirrors, coded anti-theft keypad, twin-function plip keys, infra-red remote central locking, Blaupunkt 3030 RDS stereo, rear sun blind, illuminated glovebox, driver’s seat height and lumbar adjustment. Dealer options; Citroen tailored carpet mats.

This exceptionally rare early Xantia finished in factory original Venetian Red, (Code EJXCR), boasts a wonderful deep shine and uniform finish, commensurate with the amazing credentials of a one owner since it was four months old and 21,806 miles! All factory panels are amazingly straight and well preserved thanks to strict garage storage. There is some hairline crazing to the boot lid and a few carefully touched in marks by the conscientious keeper. All trim sections and badges are in superb order and Citroen main dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted. All glass and light clusters are factory fitment and manufacturer labels remain in the door apertures. The sometimes-overused term ‘time warp’ is entirely justified with this preserved French modern classic.

Typical Gallic soft furnishings and sumptuous comfort are found in this stunning Xantia. The Sorrento Velour upholstery is as new with absolutely no wear or markings and all trim sections are perfect. The owner from virtually new was fastidious in his care for the car and this can be witnessed in all areas with the car being spotlessly clean. All controls and functions operate perfectly including the quirky coded anti-theft keypad and Blaupunkt 3030 RDS stereo. A refreshing contrast to today’s firm seats, this plush Xantia is an ergonomic indulgence.

The 2.0i engine is developed from Citroen’s renowned XU-Series unit and power output is 123hp and 132Ib ft of torque to allow a top speed of 123mph and 0-60mph in 9.4 seconds. This well-maintained example performs perfectly and the extensive sound insulation allows for very little noise intrusion to the cabin. The engine bay is pristine with all factory plates, stickers, chassis stamps and panel stamps intact. Even coloured PDI dabs have survived! The central suspension level lever allows the car to be raised up high for navigating uneven terrain and lowers to aid with workshop maintenance. All hydraulic systems operate perfectly with spheres changed routinely and the car gently lowers when turned off to deliver the iconic Citroen ‘Stance’. The factory optional automatic gearbox is perfect in operation and offers even more serene cruising.

The factory fitted wheels and hubcaps are fully intact with only light markings and all four tyres are matching Michelin 185/65 R14 with masses of tread. The ABS assisted braking system is standard on the 2.01 SX model and offer steady and assured stopping power.

Registered new on 25th August 1994 by Citroen UK Ltd, Slough, the car was then sold to the only other owner, Mr Bryan Cedar when it was just four months old. He cherished the vehicle and the exceptional condition and low mileage of just 21,806 are very special credentials to car collectors. An impressive history folder containing a huge number of main dealer and Citroen specialist invoices to document the fastidious ownership this car has enjoyed. Every MOT certificate dating back to the first in 1997 further validates the mileage and the full Citroen book pack with service booklet is present. There are two Citroen remote keys plus master key and dealer fobs. To complete the history file is an original Xantia range brochure, Haynes manual and even the supplying dealer gifted fragrance pouch!

This rare early Xantia has been the pride and joy of Mr Cedar where it took prime position in his double garage, and the condition and driving experience is a credit to his devotion to the car. A true delight to traditional Citroen fanciers and surely one of the best in existence.
