Citroen DS (1975)
This award winning DS23 has engine number 01FE 9641, which puts it amongst the last 379 DS 5 speed carburetor cars ever produced, and being RHD and a Pallas model makes it a rarity.
A 3 owner since new vehicle and first registered on 18 September 1975, it lived the majority of its life in the dry, humidity free climate of Mildura in North West Victoria and is entirely rust free. Full provenance comes with the vehicle from the original dealer supplied owner’s wallet to proof of first purchase on 18 Sep 1975 and original service book. Proof of subsequent ownerships plus all service invoices from 1999 are provided including details of a full engine rebuild. The current owner, well known amongst the Australian classic Citroen fraternity has had the car for over 10 years and has meticulously self maintained it and is responsible for its current award winning state. It took, among many other awards, the 1st prize for third front vehicles in the Australian national awards in 2015 that celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Déesse. Trimmed with a bespoke Connolly hide interior the car underwent a full body off and bare metal repaint in 2014 and all 140+ pieces of stainless steel trim were hand polished to their original luster. Too many incidental pieces to list were replaced but included new indicators, window trims, door and roof rail rubbers, pallas rubbing strips etc. It has also been fitted with 123 electronic ignition, fully rebuilt suspension, main and brake accumulator split spheres, stainless steel exhaust pipes and new muffler, rebuilt three core radiator, a tow bar (although its never towed anything) and a discreet LED safety stoplight nestled under the overhang of the roof rear. The interior is stunning with the original carpets in near perfect condition, all interior appointments operate i.e. glove box light, interior lights, even down to the original clock keeping accurate time. The instrument binnacle has the rare factory fitted water temperature gauge and has had the illumination of the instrument panel increased with a new rheostat. Although the speedometer is calibrated in kilometers per hour I have a miles per hour instrument panel as part of the sale for the UK market. Plus it has a period true radio fitted in the correct dashboard spot but one that has Bluetooth hands-free phone operation and music playback with a four speaker setup. The radio can be programmed to UK, Europe, North American or Australian/NZ frequencies. During the repaint the interior of the car including behind the dashboard were sheathed in EZ Cool heat and sound reducing material so the inside ambience of the cabin is as thoroughly modern as the outside is thoroughly classic.
This is a car, is fully sorted and utterly reliable and I don’t think twice about driving it the 2,000+km (1,250+ miles) round trip from Melbourne to Sydney over a weekend. On such journeys returns me over 9.25 l/100km (30.4mpg).
The stated purchase price includes containerized shipment to your door on mainland UK.
