Sunbeam Alpine II (1961)

The Sunbeam Alpine is a sporty two-seat open car that was initially launched in 1953, it was the first vehicle from Sunbeam-Talbot Limited to bear the Sunbeam name since the 1935 takeover of Sunbeam and Talbot by the Rootes Group.

The Series II of 1960 featured an enlarged 1,592cc engine producing 80 bhp and revised rear suspension. A Series II with hardtop and overdrive was tested by The Motor magazine in 1960; they recorded a top speed of 98.6 mph, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 13.6 seconds and a fuel consumption of 31.0 miles per imperial gallon.

First registered on 9th February 1961, this restored Sunbeam Alpine Series II is offered with absolutely splendid red coachwork. This car was acquired by the last keeper who is very local to us in 2010 and it has been restored at a cost of £36,000 which is clearly above and beyond the realistic value of the car.

Not surprisingly, it presents superbly; the history file accompanying the car contains invoices pertaining to the restoration, these are coupled with some old MoT test certificates and old invoices.

Offered with the factory hardtop and presented in good condition, we believe this car represents fabulous value as it is offered at half of its restoration costs and that's without the donor vehicle.
