A good, sound honest example of a late specification, desirable Silver Cloud I, one of the last of the six cylinder cars, incorporating power steering & electric windows, a combination which takes some beating! The car is in sound condition with a good chassis, and is nicely original and unmolested, with very acceptable older paintwork, and mellow, soft leather, which has not been re-dyed. No doubt the originality is helped by the fact that the car has been with one owner from 1961 to 2015, 54 years, virtually its whole lifetime! Not a pristine car, but all round very appealing, and in ideal condition to use & enjoy. Driving very nicely indeed, with a 'go anywhere' feel! We have successfully claimed back the rather lovely original registration number, DSP 1 which is included with the car.

Chassis No. SKG1 Reg No. DSP 1 Price £35,000

Snippets:

The 1st owner of SKG1 was David Stanley Pierson who requested a personalised number plate DSP 1 to be placed on the car. His home Abbey Oaks in Sproughton was designed in 1928 for Arthur Charles Churchman (later 1st Baron Woodridge) by Col. Harold Ridley Hooper (1886/1953). Hooper was well known for his avant garde designs which included the Electric Palace Cinema in Harwich. It would appear that Pierson purchase Abbey Oaks from the estate of Lord Woodbridge after his death in 1949 – apart from both owning the same property they were both High Sheriffs of Suffolk – Woodbridge from 1931/2 & Pierson 1960/1. D. S. Pierson was member of Lloyds of London (which took its name from its initial trading location - Lloyd’s Coffee House on Tower Street in London), Pierson’s private clubs included The Bath Club (est 1894) & the MCC (est 1787) better known as Lords. In 1958 D.S. Pierson was a guest at the Bentwaters Air Base to celebrate the achievement of the USAF flying seven F101 Voodoos in formation nonstop from Bergstrom AirForce Base in Texas – the only time they broke formation was when they had to refuel in-flight! A distance of 5,199miles in 11 hours & 1 minute!
