A particularly lovely example, very nicely bare-metal re-painted in Astral blue and Masons black with excellent blue/grey leather and blue carpets. Very neatly and professionally installed air conditioning, incorporating a matching veneer control panel just beneath the dashboard, as well as central locking and a modern sound system, bring the car into a different league, enhancing an already very competent car to better suit today’s conditions. The car drives really nicely, is very smart and sharp, as well as being sound and correct underneath. Complete with original logbook from 1965, handbook, toolkit and a bundle of servicing and repair invoices going back to the 1960s. An excellent car.

Chassis No. SCX623 Reg. No. EAD 521A £55,000.

Snippets: Musical Instruments, News of the Word & a Sculptress
The 1st owner was Frank M Middleton of Crewe, the family firm of Breeden Middleton (musical instruments) was originally a partnership between Martin Middleton & Richard Breeden until they dissolved the firm in 1929 with Martin Middleton continuing as a sole trader. SCX623 did not stay long with Frank and the next owner was Mark Chapman-Walker who was M.D. of the News of the World. In the 1960s the News of the World obtained the rights to the story of Christine Keeler and local stories of the time indicate that Ms Keeler stayed with the Chapman-Walker family at their home of Westmill in Kent. When the property was renovated by the Chapman-Walkers the foundations were identified as dating from Elizabethan times and the mill is mentioned in the Doomsday book. Having been used by the newspaper to transport various celebrities the car was purchased in 1969 by Doris Gerrard; in the late 1930s her husband Charles (1892/1964) was director of the Sir Jamsetji Jeejeebhoy School of Art in Bombay. It was here that Doris gained her inspiration for her range of India plasterwork which included the head known as “Rosetta”, when Doris died in 1995 her estate (in excess of £1m) was sold and the proceeds endowed a scholarship at Plymouth College of Art.
