A graceful Daimler Sovereign manual 4.2 Litre Series II with only 44,913 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Chrome fluted radiator grille and boot shroud, wrap-round chrome bumper, over riders, chrome bonnet strip, chrome door mirrors, chrome door handles, chrome window surrounds, twin chrome lockable petrol caps, power assisted steering, walnut veneer facia, six gauge instrument cluster, fuel tank changeover switch, push-push switches, oddments tray, map reading lights, Daimler sill scuff plates, lockable glove box with vanity mirror, central door locking, fibre optic light cables, quartz clock, rear coat hooks. Factory options; Electrically operated windows, Radiomobile.

EXTERIOR
This luxurious Daimler has the quintessential opulence and grace of a Jaguar Series II with a further heightened level of equipment and finish. The Heritage Trust Certificate confirms this vehicle is finished in the correct factory colour of Regency Red which boasts a beautiful deep shine which remains uniform throughout. Having been subject to a documented photographic restoration in the late 1980’s by the previous owner, the vehicle has stood the test of time but imperfections in the finish can be seen. The gorgeous and extensive chromium finishing’s are bright and undamaged including the unique fluted grill and rear shroud which show only a light tarnish. All lighting and lenses are original Lucas fitment and all factory glass is number plate etched. The underside and wheel arch apertures are clean and the structure clearly visible with no patched repairs. A magnificent classic Daimler with all the appurtenances of a gracious lifestyle.

INTERIOR
The finest quality hand selected leather hide upholstery in the original Biscuit has aged well with the deep foam cushions offering superb comfort throughout. The pristine deep pile carpets and thick underlay are exquisite and matching door dressings and arm rests are undamaged. The beautifully crafted polished walnut veneer instrument panel features fully functioning switchgear and Smiths gauges and the original Bakelite steering wheel with Daimler emblem adds to the grandeur. The headlining is perfect and even a metal plate from supplying dealer, C H Truman and Co. Ltd of Nottingham, is still affixed to the driver’s door sill. The boot area displaying factory stickers is excellent with the previous owner even cutting out a cardboard flooring for extra protection! A full tool kit is present along with the original wheel brace and jack. A truly fine Daimler interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A gloriously smooth six cylinder well proven version of the XK 4.2 litre engine produces 170bhp and an impressive 231lb/ft of torque. This is enough to propel the vehicle to a top speed of 125mph and onto 60mph in 8.9 seconds. The original twin SU HS8 carburettor set up remains fitted, and the vehicle build plate, engine number and inner wing panel stamping match exactly to the vehicle records found on the Heritage Certificate. Documented service records and works carried out are staggering thanks to the long-term previous owners’ dedication. Factory fitted with a manual gearbox with overdrive on top gear, this is one the first eight cars to be fitted with a manual transmission as confirmed in a specialist vehicle report in the history file.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Pressed steel bolt on disc wheels with excellent Daimler chromium hub covers and rimbellishers are very bright and show some minor aging. Matching branded 205/70 R15 tyres with ample tread have recently been fitted. The standard set up of Girling type disc brakes to all four wheels with servo assistance bring the car to a halt straight and true.

HISTORY FILE
The cavernous boot in this Daimler is largely filled with the amazing history, or indeed history box, of this example, such is the phenomenal record keeping. Manufactured on the 3rd December 1973 and supplied by Daimler dealer C H Truman and Co. Ltd of Nottingham. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate No. 3058 confirms all numbers match and that the car is still on the original registration number and the mileage of 44,913 miles is certified as correct. Mr Hopper, a now retired Electrical Engineer, has kept a meticulous log of all works to supplement the original Passport to Service book and sale documentation. A hand written workbook is included which will help reassure the next owner of the works carried out to keep this prime example in fully working order and the further colossal history files would take hours, perhaps even a day to peruse! Furthermore, a documented professional restoration completed in the late 1980’s is supported by many photographs along with additional maintenance and upkeep records.

As a member of the Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club and with two Daimlers to his name, parting with this pride and joy after over 30 years was a very difficult decision.
