Bristol 400 (1948)
The Bristol 400 was manufactured by the BRISTOL AIRCRAFT COMPANY just after the end of the 2nd World War and was essentially a BMW mechanically with a Bristol made body to aircraft standards. This particular car, (* Car #. 215 with Engine #. 85A/1286 and Chassis #. 369) ) was exported new to Australia to Allen Jones who took delivery in October 1948 - it had arrived there with 3 other Bristol's that had been sold to new owners in the Victoria area. It is unusual in that it has the sports configuration set- up with 3 SU carburettors. It stayed in the Jones family until the year 2000 when it was restored by the last owner. It is being registered in the UK and it will be fitted with an age related number courtesy of DVLA A really good driving car and well up to modern road conditions - it also has the benefit of being eligible for retrospective rally events. The car is available for inspection in Newent in Gloucestershire and is priced at £48,000 inclusive of all import charges. More photos on www.classics.co.nz
