BMW 5 Series (1985)
For sale is my 1985 BMW 528i SE Auto which has only done 99,000 miles and includes 11 months MOT which showed no failures and went straight through. The service history that I have with the car includes every MOT dated to 1989 to confirm that low mileage. Shown by the photo there are a number receipts for £000's of work done including a Cobra alarm which I have two controls for and also two sets of keys.
A summary of the service history:
2009 : £207.00 - An engine tune and also the tappets were adjusted which highlights why the engine is running well today.
2007 : £102.81 - A new radiator was installed including 2 litres of antifreeze being replaced
2001 : £ 1164.56 - The engine was overhauled including a new camshaft, 12 rockers, a new cylinder head bought and refaced due to the previous found to have a crack and new head gasket set.
The car also comes with expensive original BBS alloys which are rare to find on a classic BMW E28, along with a grey recaro m-sport seats which also very rare.
Restoration
When I purchased the car there were a few issues that I had to take care of which I will summarise:
On the nearside wing and the offside A-pillar there were signs of laquer peeling, plus the bonnet had numerous stone chips and also a few dents which had to be corrected. Therefore I organised for a complete front end respray which included the bonnet, both wings and up both A-pillars. The paintwork now looks stunning and being red it often fades but due to the new paint it gleams with a slight paint variation in the right light.
The other issue was that the drivers seat base was ripped to pieces which I am not sure how this was done as it is normally the bolsters that wear. I therefore after weeks of searching and asking contacts I managed to track another seat which I have put into the car and therefore it looks almost as good as new.
The car does have a couple minor marks due to its age which are a chip to the far left of the windscreen which is obviously not an MOT failure having just passed, this can easily be done on your insurance often with no excess. There is a tiny amount is rust I can see along the boot rubber in the corner but it is only on the surface and would not take much to cure.
This is a rare care especially in this specification so please let me know if you have any questions or would like more photos as I have plenty of the restoration. Also please note that there is currently no tax on the car as the car has been at my mechanics garage being restored and is now ready for sale this can be agreed so if you are interested please message me.
