Classic Saab 900 Turbo T16S FPT 175BHP
Full Saab and specialist service history
10 months MOT

For sale is this stunning Saab 900 Turbo S. This is the full pressure turbo model which produces 175bhp, the most powerful classic 900 you can buy with exception of the limited edition Carlson model.
This 900 benefits from the best engine in the range. To add to that it sports the full optional aero kit fitted from factory which includes body styling, 3 spoke alloy wheels and a sportier suspension setup. It comes in what is undoubtedly the best and arguably the only colour to have one of these classics in, black, and is complimented by the luxury factory option Buffalo grey leather interior.
This is a fine example of a charming and characterful classic which is a rare sight nowadays, especially in this top spec guise and in this condition. It has been lovingly cared for over its 20 year life which is reflected in its condition. See bottom of the listing for history details.
The car comes with the original Saab leather folder which is bulging full of receipts for work carried out over the years, the original manufacturer’s handbooks and the fully stamped service book which runs consistently up to only a few thousand miles ago.
Old MOTs going back to 2001
Only 132,000 miles over its 20 year life (an average of only 6500 a year) and only 40,000 miles in the last 10 years.
This car has had a very easy life.
In the last 5,000 miles the car has had the following components replaced:
New clutch
New headlining (no sagging here like most others of this age)
New discs and pads front and back
New brake pipes
New battery
4 new tyres
New exhaust
New boot hydraulic struts
Servicing items including oils, filters, air filter, spark plugs
Cosmetically the car is nearly flawless. The black metallic paint has aged extremely well and is barely showing any signs of its 20 year life. All paint appears to be original. To be picky, there is some slight scuffing on the nearside corner of the front bumper plastic and on the offside corner of the rear bumper plastic both of which are very light. They should clear easily with some polish so I will remove them before sale. The rest of the body is rust and dent free. All 4 alloys are original and immaculate for their age with no corrosion. I believe one has some slight paint peel but no kerbing.
Mechanically the car is very strong. The engine starts up confidently on the first turn of the key, idles nicely and comes up to temperature as it should. The turbo spools and kicks in just as it should delivering a significant surge of continuous power. The clutch is nice and firm having been replaced only a few thousand miles ago. The gearbox is equally tight and reassuring. The gear changes are silky smooth and really benefit from fresh transmission fluid which I have changed recently. The only thing that needs mentioning is that second gear can be a bit notchy every now and then, but still engages fine. This is only evident when pushing the car hard at very high rev changes and downshifts. If the car is driven sensibly, as it deserves to be, you won’t have a problem.
The cabin really is a rewarding place to be and resembles the cockpit of a jet fighter with its wrap around windscreen, dials and buttons perfectly placed for the best possible driving experience. The interior is in very good tidy and original condition. All the upholstery is very clean including the seats, carpets and of course headlining, which has recently been replaced with a brand new one, which complements the factory new condition of the rest of the cabin.
Even the stereo is the original Blaupunkt item fitted at the factory. The rear seats look as if they’ve had very little if any use. The passenger seat is also in very good condition, the driver seat has the common wear on the outside bolster, which can be seen in the pictures. All the electrics work including the windows, sunroof and mirrors.
I would really like this to go to an enthusiast. It is a very well cared for example that has matured graciously and is a fantastic specimen of a car that is a real style icon. There is nothing else like the classic Saab 900. If you’re wise enough to be considering one of these modern classics, this is the right example with the right spec.
