Rolls-Royce 20HP (1926)
Originally a Cockshoot Limousine, this car was very appropriately and professionally re-bodied in 1989 by Geoff Munton of Lincoln, the design being very true to the era, and very much looking the part as well as being very well constructed. Nicely appointed with good quality full wet weather gear including side screens and tonneau cover, etc, and very nicely trimmed in red leather, which has matured very appealingly over the last 25 years. Mechanically good, driving nicely, with light steering, comfortable suspension, etc. Benefiting from considerable work in the 1990s, after which the car was taken on trouble-free Continental tours, and care and attention since, including a recent engine refurbishment, with re-bore, new pistons, etc. The car comes with a substantial file documenting the building of the body, maintenance, repairs, etc. Just fitted with a new exhaust manifold, serviced, prepared and MoT tested until October 2016.

Snippets: Humphrey Humphreys
Ordered by Humphrey Humphreys of Merle Bank in Hale, Cheshire, during WWI his son Leslie was captured at the battle Trones Wood whilst serving with the 17th Battalion Manchester Regiment. During the 1930s Humphrey Humphreys & his wife lived at Davenport Hall Farm – Humphrey & his family had connections to the Davenport Estate dating as far back as 1086, probably best known for Bramall Hall a black & white half-timbered manor house dating back to the 14th Century. Humphrey Humprheys president of Ringway Golf Club & when the Club was threaten with losing their 3rd & 4th holes for road widening he allowed 3 of the holes to be played on part of his land! Scions of the Humphreys family include Sir Salusbury Pryce Humpheys who married the heiress Maria Davenport & changed his surname to Davenport in 1838 on the occasion of Maria’s inheritance. The Davenports were staunch Royalists & in the Private Chapel are several carvings which indicate the family’s loyalty to the Crown – the Rose & Fetterlock for the Yorkists, the Bear & Ragged Staff – for Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick who during the War of the Roses was known as the Kingmaker.
