A smart, sound and correct car in very appealing, ready-to-go condition, having been well cared for in recent times and used for continental tours, club events, etc. Relatively recent work has included re-coring of the radiator, re-wiring in correct, cotton-covered cable and the fitting of an overdrive. The car is nicely finished in two tone blue, with excellent blue leather to the front and blue/grey patterned cloth to the rear with excellent satin-finish wood veneers throughout. Externally, the car is enhanced by lovely chrome work, including a superb set of lamps & horns, a full set of 'Ace' wheel discs, topped off by a desirable registration number, ALL 9. With the car comes a large file of history, which includes various correspondence, invoices, MoT certificates, early photos and the original handbook with the chassis number stamped inside. A winner of club awards in the 1990s following a thorough restoration, the car is handsome, running very nicely, fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system and offered newly MoT tested. Well known in RREC circles.

Snippets: Who was Percy Rose of Sefton Park.
According to the chassis cards the 1st owner of GMD21 was Percy Rose of 22 Aigburth Drive, Sefton Park, however various records show that 22 Aigburth Drive was the home of Sophie & Julius Kaye who in 1939 at the onset of WWII were advertising for staff – a cook, a house maid and a “between” maid. In 1944 Julius Kaye died aged 89 leaving an estate in excess of £60,000. The house which consisted of 5 reception rooms, 11 bedrooms and more importantly a garage, was placed on the market the following year which, by coincidence, is when GMD21 moved to be with her next owner. There are two Mr Miller Yardley’s of Lichfield, father and son who were both dentists practicing out of the same address so it is unclear if it was Yardley Snr or Jnr that owned GMD21! Perhaps someone can clear this up for us which would be a great help. Later owners of GMD21 included Donald Newsam of the Fox & Goose Inn on Pudding Pie Hill, there has been a hostelry on Pudding Pie Hill since the late 1300s and the name derived from the Viking board game of Fox & Geese, the hill takes its name from the lime which covered the top of the hill making it look like a steamed pudding!!
