MG J2 Midget (1932)
Equipped with OM carburettors, Phoenix crankshaft and rods, Lead-free cylinder head, 3-spoke steering wheel, Double buckle leather bonnet belt, Hydraulic operation brakes, Matching numbers (Original engine, gearbox & body, even the bonnet has the same stamping as the chassis), Known to the MG Car Club Triple M Register for many years, this original cycle wings J2 Midget is understood to be the earliest J2 on the road, being chassis number J2013 – the 13th off the production line & was the first J2 to be fitted with semi down-draught S.U.s which apparently was done to assist access to the sparking plugs, Originally supplied by P.J.Evans Ltd. Birmingham and used as there Demonstrator, Subsequently sold in October 1933 to its 1st Private owner Harry Radford (Chief Designer at A.Harper, Son & Bean), Original Birmingham registration number, Complete with wonderful extensive provenance with many pre-war invoices and correspondence from the MG Car Company dating back to the 1930’s including an original Buff logbook, Much recent expenditure.
