The Elan +2 was introduced in 1967 with a longer wheelbase and two rear seats. The Elan +2 embodied the Lotus spirit: It was a fast and agile sport coupe. It combined the performance and reliability

of the Elan "Coupe" with genuine 2+2 passenger comfort. Tested maximum power: 108-126 bhp (net) (depending on the model); top speed: 120 mph (190 km/h), 0–60 mph in 7.9 seconds, 0-100 mph 21.8

seconds. 5,200 Elans +2 were made: fewer than 1,200 of these cars remain in the roads today. Their relative rarity, beautiful lines, impressive performance and practicality are the main factors for

the rising interest on these cars among collectors.

History :

6 Former keepers ,the last keeper being from 1992, looking at the cars history file the car was subject to major restoration over years including the replacement spyder chassis ,engine rebuild ,

The interior of the car looks like it has also been the subject of retrim during the period including the roof lining along with a host of other work ,there is comprehensive file on this including

a picture off the chassis ,drive train with the Body off .

The condition of the car.

Drive Train :

The engine unit seems very strong with good oil pressure

The shows no sign of shim tappet of timing chain rattle

Running on twin Weber 40 DCOE’s , could most probably do with setting up a bit better ( not my strong point “ )

Recent electronic ignition and high performance coil

The engine picks up well shutting down without over run .

Gearbox :

In excellent condition with short precise changes .

Differential ;

No wind up or slack .

Rear shafts /doughnuts ,fine!

Brakes :

Seem to pull up straight and handbrake working

Suspension :

No Issues that require flagging up

Steering :

The Rack is excellent ,

Headlamp servo’s

Look to have recent servo units fitted so work extremely well

Electrical :

At the time of writing ( do remember it is a lotus “ )

Virtually every major electricals

The only gauge not working is the fuel gauge ,

This could be an earth as the pointer is in the full position

Electric Windows :

Working surprisingly well “

Wheels /tyres :

The car is sitting on the period knock on “ wheels shod with excellent matching Goodyear Grand prix tyres all round .

Exhaust :

In very good condition

Interior :

As mentioned above the interior is in excellent condition with lovely series one bucket seats with red piping ,dash ,door cards roof lining all excellent

Chassis :

Excellent !

Again as mentioned above fitted with a galvanised Spyder Unit

Bodywork :

Looks Lovely in Carnival Red ,it was red originally then painted in a later Sierra Cosworth red but now back in its original carnival ,

Bright Work :

The Bumpers , Front and rear and the roof rails and rear boot hinges are painted silver ,the rear bumper being a fibreglass unit ,

The chrome door window surround’s where painted black this has been removed and whilst the chrome is not at it’s best far superior to being painted black “

The windscreen is good ,the rubber is not in its first flush of life ,

I have not subject the car to a heavy drenching to confirm it’s water tightness so can’t comment on this ,

The rest of the seals all good .
