Ford Anglia (1960)
Allardette 50th Anniversary Rally car.
The Allardette '102 FTA' restoration was commissioned by the Allard family to be built in house at the Gloucester Allard factory to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Sydney and Alan Allard's successful 1963 campaign of the Monte Carlo Rally in the FIA Homologated Allardette. Where a first and second in class was achieved in the Allard factory built car.
Sydney Allard was the outright winner of the Monte Carlo Rally in 1952, in a car bearing his own name, an Allard P type saloon. This is a feat which had never been achieved and is never likely to be repeated – narrowly beating a young Stirling Moss.
The period Allardette build has been painstakingly carried out over the last few years by Lloyd and Alan Allard to the exact homologated specification and has achieved a commended certification. If you look at the FIA homologated models listed, you shall see amongst Ford models that the ‘Allardette’ is included.
The shakedown and testing of the Allardette has been completed and is now ready to enter various international events in the UK and Europe, including the Monte Carlo Rally itself.
The technical specification includes a long list of Allard specific components fabricated in house in accordance with the homologated papers and original factory drawings. The 997cc engine is fitted with a Shorrock C75B supercharger which delivers 85bhp, coupled with a stainless four branch manifold and full system. The suspension and brakes are all uprated with disks at the front as well as anti-roll bars. Also many other rally specific Allard modifications are fitted to comply with the regulations. Inside the Allardette competition rally seats are fitted along with a period sports steering wheel and Shorrock gauges. Outside the car has period rally Cibe spot lamps and has been distinctively painted in the blue and white livery, exactly as the original Allard team models of 63' and 64' were painted, coupled with period 1963 'Monte' designed logos. Sydney's signature has been added to the dash and a commemorative '50 Years Anniversary' graphic has been commissioned and is displayed on the car in honour of one of Motorsports true Legends, The Guv'nor.'
As far as the Allard family are aware, this is the only Alladette in existence and has been built from a bare shell upwards, with new parts made from the original Allard factory drawings of 1963. Truly a one off piece of Motorsport history. A stunning car and homage to Sydney. The restoration has been carried out to an exceptionally high standard, as you would expect from Allard Sports Cars with the work being carried out by Lloyd and Alan Allard and is now available to purchase at £34,000, either as a collector's item or for enthusiasts who are looking to use it competitively.
Included in the sale the will be copies of all the period performance literature that was produced by the Allard company for the Allardette at the time and a full history and restoration file.
The car has been displayed at the NEC classic car show where it won a commended award by the judges and has been featured in Octane magazine. This is a remarkable opportunity to purchase a truly interesting and thoroughly unique and authentic classic supercharged Anglia ‘Allardette’
The Allardette is available to view at the Gloucester factory by appointment only.
