Austin 16HP (1936)
1936 Austin 16 6cylinder York Shootingbrake (woodie) Owned by me for nearly 30 years, previously owned by Charterhouse School it was a CDT project. The school had embarked upon a rebuild when I acquired it. After 2 years a complete rebuild was undertaken, body sand blasted, leading followed by 2k primer then Dark Blue cellulose top paint. The wooden body was completely replaced with Ash frame and Mahogany panelling to a more proportioned and pleasing shape, new roof, irons and floor, chassis stripped and painted, all bushes, track rod ends, springs etc. replaced.
The interior comprises of an Austin dash instruments but not the original York items. Daimler Majestic seats were modified to fit as the original Austin seats did not exist. Engine /gearbox/back axle rebuilt original items. Rewired with correct loom, good low mileage tyres. A few spares available (head gasket etc.)
Will post more pictures.
This car is a joy to drive but I do not drive it enough to warrant keeping it, better to let someone else enjoy it on the road where it should.
