A handsome, spacious and practical, long wheelbase limousine, in sound condition and running well. Well suited to wedding hire work, having plenty of room in the rear for the bride and groom, and generously sized occasional seats as well, perhaps suitable for bridesmaids. Attractive and well-proportioned in appearance, particularly with the correct R100 headlamps, giving an impressive frontal aspect. We sold the car in 1999, and it has just come back to us from the same owner. To be prepared, serviced and MoT tested before sale.

Snippets: The Lowndes of Gisborne
Noble Frank Lowndes (1896/1972) was born in Gisborne, New Zealand and was the eldest of the 6 sons of Frank Lowndes – Master Marina, inventor of items for Boat safety & a Cartage operator (with goods ranging from Meat to Jamaican Rum!). Noble was the eldest son and during WWI he spent his 18th birthday in Apia, helping to take Samoa back from the Germans, Apia was of strategic importance to Germany as the radio transmitter was in the hills above Apia and cold send long-range signals to Berlin and of course to the 90 odd German warships. After WWI Noble F. Lowndes set up the firm of Noble Lowndes Annuities (NLA) in New Zealand & in due course the firm became the most successful Pensions company in New Zealand. In 1930 Noble came to London where he was later joined by his brothers Roy & Colin, Noble Lowndes purchased the Bromfield Estate in Warlingham where the family settled & in 1934 Frank & Laura Lowndes joined their sons in order for Frank to promote the Lowndes Life Saving Device. The NLA building in Croydon is referred to as the 50 pence piece building due to its unusual shape & in 1978 it featured in the sitcom “Terry & June”. The Bromfield estate was purchased in the early 1960s by the Overseas Missionary Fellowship and renamed “Maxwell House” however in 1928 when it was the home of E. Gibson Knight (a member of the Royal Aeronaical Society in 1919) the title of the property was West Hall Copse, today it is known as Woodlands.
