SALE AGREED

A wonderfully substantial limousine, strongly constructed in a way typical of American bodies of the period. The car has been re-painted in recent times and re-furbished by the owner of the last nine years, bringing it up to a smart, very presentable standard and in good running order. Freshly finished in deep Burgundy & black, with red leather to the front & cloth to the rear. Equipped with drum headlights & sidelights (scuttle-mounted), twin side-mounted spare wheels, a trunk on the rear and various other nice touches. All-in-all, a handsome, imposing car, offered fully serviced, UK registered and MoT tested.

Chassis No. S270FP Reg No. BF 5185 £65,000

Snippets: Goldman
Delivered to Henry Goldman (1857/1937) in New York City on the 5th December 1928, the day after the launch of the Goldman Sachs Trading Corp, Henry Goldman himself had retired from Goldman Sachs in 1917 due to personal differences aired WWI and became a partner in the firm of Arthur Lipper. His retirement deprived Goldman Sachs of substantial capital but he did retain a “consulting desk” at the firm; for almost 50 years after its inception (1869) all of the partners of the firm Goldman Sachs had been members of the intermarried families of the Goldman & Sachs. In 1928, the year that he acquired this Rolls-Royce, Henry Goldman gave a Stradivarius violin known as the “Prince Khevenhuller” to a 12 year old Yehudi Menuhin and in 1929 Henry Goldman purchased a 23ft yacht which he gave to Albert Einstein as a 50th birthday gift! Henry Goldman lived in an apartment at 998 Fifth Avenue, New York, this apartment block was home to the wealthiest of the wealthy & occupiers included families such as the Astors, Guggenheims, Vanderbilts, Dickermans & the Mortons (just to name a few! From research it would seem that Mrs Guggenheim had bought her Rolls-Royce a few months before the Goldman’s acquired S270FP. According to the chassis cards the next recorded owner of S270FP was a Mr. Eric F C Helmich of Port Washington, New York followed by Alan Wasserman of New Jersey; in 1990 S270FP was imported into the UK where she has been ever since.
