A very nice example of a rare, six light (eight with the roof down) ‘Tickford’ Cabriolet, handsome in design, with an ‘easy action’ roof which winds down with a crank handle, just one person being required to raise or lower it. The versatile design gives the option of relatively draft-free open air motoring in a car which has large easy-access doors as well as being spacious, light and airy when closed. The car is smartly painted in black & deep green, with very nice chromework, fresh light tan leather, very good green carpets, the aforementioned hood in very good order, fully lined, and excellent woodwork. The whole car presents well, runs nicely, and has recently completed a 2,000 mile round Britain tour. We are about to fit a new clutch, service and prepare the car, and it will be newly MoT tested.

Chassis No. GSY47 Reg. No. FS 6475 £67,500

Snippets: Pitpointie Shorthorns
The car was registered to Mr & Mrs Robert Duncan of Pitpointie in Auchterhouse, Forfarshire – both the Duncan’s came from well-established farming families with Mrs Duncan being a daughter of Robert Howison who farmed at East Inchmichael some 20 miles away. Robert Duncan was an acknowledge exporter, judge & breeder of Shorthorn cattle with the “Pitpointie” prenom cattle fetching exceptionally high prices – in 1927 “Pitpointie Herald” sold for 2,600 guineas to a Mr. Piper & in 1929 “Pitpointie Jason” was bought by the Irish Free State Department for 1,050gs. Robert Duncan died in 1942 and it is not known who owned GSY47 was prior to it being in the USA with the Hollis family – the Hollis family concern was supplying equipment to Dairy Farms in Tulare, California so perhaps there is a bovine connection between the Duncan & Hollis families. GSY47 was repatriated by ourselves in 1989 and has remained in the UK since that time.
