Citroen BX St Tropez 1.4

I'm including another Citroen BX for spares, in this sale - a red 1.4 Preview model (this one could be restored as well, but the conditon of it is quite poor, although structurally sound).

Bought by me in 2021 with the intention of it being a "rolling project" as well as a daily driver. The issues I've had with it are: a broken differential (which I replaced by installing the gearbox from the spares car, which has done a similar mileage); petrol leak from tank (fitted tank from spares car); hydraulic return pipe leaks (sections replaced); the wiring under the steering column got wrapped around the column (replaced using the spare car's loom); the heater not working (new matrix fitted and tap cleaned); and the suspension being rock hard when I bought it (fixed by fitting five new spheres (checked and fitted by Doug at Westroen); rear window shattered, as I accidentally left the heated screen on, on a hot day (boot lid from spare car fitted).

Good points
74k miles
New heater matrix fitted and heater tap cleaned, so it gets nice and hot.
New spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap and rotor.
All 5 spheres recently changed (see above).
Solid underneath and very little body rust (see "bad points" for details).
Scuttle edges where water bottles sit were professionally welded and auto-schutzed.
MOT'd until end of July 2025.
Wheels and spare wheel carrier recently powder coated.
Car goes up and down nicely.
Gear changes are all smooth and car drives well.
Both, front and rear washer bottles are fitted and work.
No electrical issues.
The interior (seats) are from the 'Preview' model, which I am told are rare and were fitted to early GTi's and top of the range turbo diesel models, the matching door cards, etc, are still in the spares car.
Will include blue and brown (earlier, more detailed) Haynes manuals.
Seats are very comfortable - more like arm chairs (in my opinion) and the ride is quite comfortable, although I'm told it can be made even more "glide-like" by fitting the earlier Citroen DS specification spheres.

Bad points
Paint work is a bit tatty.
There is a dent on the NSR wheel arch.
Body coloured front bumper is included, but is cracked, so will need plastic welding / stapling.
White boot lid is included, but will need new glass fitting, and the previous owner fitted a spoiler, so the holes will need filling and painting (they do not allow water to leak into the car though, as the holes are outside the boot seal.
The only significant rust (none of it is structural or near suspension components) is: in the rear corner of boot floor where exhaust hanger sits; on NS inner wing; and around the boot slam catch (see photo's.
Will need a new octopus, although the hydraulics are intact, with no leaks.
Seats are not the original St Tropez ones (see 'Good points' for more details).
Analogue clock has stopped working.
Clock in centre of dash will need properly wiring in, as it works, but time gets reset when driving lights are turned on.

For the right sale price (see listing price) I will include plenty of new parts, including two rear exhaust sections, swing arm bearing kits, subframe bushes and mounts, a replacement set of clocks with a rev counter and working trip counter (rare for these!), powder coated (new) fuel pipes, ethanol resistant Gates Barricade flexible petrol hoses (enough to redo the whole car) with brass connectors, rear suspension gaiter kit, brake discs and pads, and a pair of Thule roof bars that I bought (second hand) but never used.

Looking to get £2500 for the pair.

Buyer can drive the St. Tropez away as it is fully road worthy (this time last year I drove it to Manchester and back (to Hampshire) with no issues), but the spares car will need to be taken away on a car transporter or a trailer. This is one of only eight BX St. Tropez left on the road in the UK (15 if you include those on SORN). The spares car (a 1. 4 Preview) is even rarer.

I have had so many people approach me to say "they used to have a BX (and loved it)".

I was intending to drive the car down to St Tropez for a road trip / holiday when I had got it back to tip-top condition, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to spend working on it at the moment, and whilst it is road-worthy and a perfectly good daily driver, I would have liked to get it looking really nice, and hopefully the new owner, whoever buys it, will be able to do so.

I have more photo's, but could only upload four to this advert - please contact me for more photo's, or if you would like to ask more questions please call me.
