Triumph GT6 Mk II

Vehicle Price: GBP 7,750
Advert Reference Number: 14580

For sale here is my 1969 ‘early spec’ GT6 Mk2
This is a very rare car with only around 1100 early Mk2s ever made for the domestic UK market. According to ‘howmanyleft’, only 32 cars from 1969 now remain in the UK and only 22 are on the road.
The car was first registered in April 1969, with a chassis number placing it in the middle of the production run of early spec cars built for only a short time between July 1968 and October 1969. After this came the later spec Mk2s with different seats and less elegant, combined reversing/number plate light amongst some other detail changes.
Originally the car left the factory in ‘Valencia Blue’ (paint code 66) with ‘Light Tan’ trim (code 13) but as you can see it is currently white with black trim.
The speedo shows 47,282 miles, which based on the paperwork history with the car appears to be correct.
The car still has the correct ‘KC’ prefix 2 litre, 6-cylinder GT6 engine (starts and runs), coupled to an overdrive gearbox. A reconditioned gearbox and clutch were fitted in 2003 at approx. 46,000 miles (receipt in the history file).
The 4x Minilite style alloy wheels are in excellent condition, plus there is a spare set of 5 steel wheels and tyres. There is also a nice twin pipe stainless steel exhaust fitted and a period ‘Webasto’ style sunroof with pop up wind deflector.
The car has not been used since 2008 but has been stored undercover since then and has therefore been protected from the elements during its time off the road. It is rusty in some of the usual GT6 places but it’s no worse than it appears in the photos and overall is very sound, far better than many projects (even Mk3s) I’ve seen for sale and it is a very viable restoration project. The steel bonnet is sound and still has the correct louvres in the top panel and wings.
The car is complete and in standard spec aside from the exhaust and wheels, although Minilites were a popular option in period. It also comes with some additional spares, plus a few new parts including Rotoflex donuts & wheel bearing kits plus there is a large, comprehensive Triumph workshop manual and Haynes manual, both invaluable for any restorer.
History file including several receipts and old MOTs.
Already registered with Historic Vehicle status on the V5 so does not require an MOT and is eligible for free road tax.
This is a very rare opportunity to buy a Mk2 GT6 project as they rarely come up for sale. In fact, when coming to sell my car I couldn’t find another single Mk2 project car for sale in the UK. Good restored Mk2s are now selling for around £20,000 so this is a great opportunity for someone to restore an original, unmolested car for far less than that.
I’m happy to provide additional photos but as with any restoration project like this, I expect that serious buyers will want to come and view the car first hand to see exactly what’s what.
Any questions welcome and viewings are of course welcome.
We are in Chidham, just west of Chichester, close to Goodwood and the A3/A27 junction.
