A rare and desirable ‘long wing’ convertible, in good order, sound condition with excellent door fits, etc, and very nicely painted in two shades of grey with a good black hood. The car has benefitted in recent times from various attentions, including a full repaint in 1993 and much more recently, a new clutch, new Avon radial tyres (which suit the car well) and more besides. In addition, we have just refurbished the leather and fitted new carpets. In 2009, the car won a ‘Best in Class’ award at the RREC North of England Rally. Complete with correct large tools in their clips in the boot and an impressive set of small tools in the tray under the dashboard. Running and driving well, with a history file, supplied serviced, prepared and newly MoT tested.

Snippets: VONO Mattresses & James Hunt's Wedding Car
B425FU was initially purchased by Douglas Vaughan – his father Ernest Vaughan had started Eagle Foundry – and then went on to establish VONO Ltd (Vaughan Only and No Other), Revo, Grovewood, Ewarts, Portways and Duport Foundaries. Douglas & his brother Malcolm continued in the family business prior to both of them joining the T.A. & forming platoons from men in their employ! Douglas’s mother Celia came from a large wealthy family consisting of 10 girls and 5 boys! Douglas’s sister Mollie was a society beauty who in 1933 was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Charles Sweeny and Margaret Wigham (later Duchess of Argyll). In the 1950s B425FU was with Mr Wood of Colwall, P. Granville-Grossman a property developer who, in the 1930s, built the Granville Arcade at Brixton which was opened by Carl Brisson (a Danish filmstar). In the 1970s B425FU was in Canada with L. W. Summerhayes (1918/2001) whose businesses included Lloyd’s Tile, CanAm Manufacturing and Road Runner Cellular Phones. During WWII Lloyd Summerhayes served with the Royal Canadian Airforce and was stationed both home and abroad. The early 1980s saw B425FU with Max Rice of Brampton a property developer and philanthropist – both of Max’s sons used B425FU on their wedding days and the next owner Danny Burnstein remembers that he continued to find confetti in the car for many years! B425FU was with the Burnstein family from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s prior to the car going to a dentist in Mobile, Alabama. In 2013 the film Rush about the life of James Hunt was released and we believe that B425FU was used as a wedding car – there certainly is a car of the same make, model and colour scheme shown in the wedding scene!
