Austin A35 Saloon

Vehicle Price: GBP 12,995
Advert Reference Number: 13650

This Austin A35 two door saloon was first registered in January 1958 and has had only four owners in its entire life. It has been the subject of a total upgrade to a Fast Road specification which was carried out alongside a significant and well executed restoration.
Works included: Total strip of car, hull sandblasted and sprayed with Anti-rust compound then repainted Ford Fiesta Red using two-pack paint. Complete re-trim in Grey piped Red. Mechanically the car has been substantially improved and now features: Engine bored out to 1380 cc with 9.6 : 1 Compression Ratio Pistons; Avonbar Cylinder Head with extra large Valves; Kent 286 Camshaft; 7.5 Inch Competition Clutch with larger Slave Cylinder; 1.5 Inch Single SU Carburettor; Custom Exhaust Manifold; Oil Cooler fitted; SU Electric Fuel Pump; Gearbox re-built ex MG Midget with 3.9 : 1 final drive.
Holding the car to the road is a much improved under-carriage that includes: MG Midget Front Disc Brakes, Anti-roll Bar, Alternative Roll-Bar on Trailing Links to the rear; Rear Springs set with 6° camber and Wire Wheels.
A nimble and surprisingly quick little car, it attracts admiring gazes wherever it goes. With the burgeoning A35 Academy Racing class in vogue this car represents an ideal opportunity to, if required, create a good looking class eligible race car for less cost than the acquisition of turn-key example. Moreover, with a shell that has had all the expensive structural work done, the risk is much reduced versus an unknown quantity donor car. We can advise on the parts required to bring this lovely little car to Academy Specification. We are informed that the engine was prepared by a reknowned Jaguar Racing Engineer (Mike Pemberton).
