1968 MK2 “Crayford” Cortina 1600GT. As you can see in the pictures it’s in really nice condition, not perfect, but very very presentable, if you’re looking for a nice classic Ford that you can drive straight away, and will appreciate in value this may be the car for you. The engine, gearbox, and running gear are all in excellent order, I’ve fitted electronic ignition which really makes a difference to starting and overall performance. It drives very well and is surprisingly comfortable with very little scuttle shake, Crayford obviously knew what they were doing when they strengthened the car when carrying out the conversion. The odometer is reading 03756 so obviously been around the clock, which equates to just over 2000 miles a year over its 48 year life; I would assume most of the miles were covered during its early years. Although I have no record, I’m fairly certain that the engine has been reconditioned in recent years as it performs far too well for a 103000 mile engine, no overheating issues, excellent oil pressure, no smoky exhaust, no nasty noises, and it accelerates nice and crisply, The interior which has been updated to series 2 is in lovely condition, the Mohair soft top and cover are in as new condition, the roof framework although a little fiddly operates as it should.
