Jaguar E-type

III V12 E-Type Jaguar has recently been completely restored, re-built and upgraded by the highly regarded Lanes Jaguar of Lichfield to their GTA Specification. Completed in 2014 and finished in flawless Gunmetal Metallic with Burgundy hide the car sits on wide chrome competition wire wheels with Dunlop 205/70 Tyres. From every angle this car is simply breath taking, particularly so as both the front and the rear of the car has been modified to S1 appearance.
Based on a UK car the owner acquired the car late in 2011 with the intention of appointing Lanes to transform the vehicle into a really quick, driveable and usable touring machine. The works carried out are documented from Lanes and there are also a series of photographs showing the car in its bare state.
Mechanical modifications include the supply and installation of a 6 Litre Jaguar V12 engine with Fuel Injection and new fuel lines. This phenomenal power plant has been mated to a Jaguar J gate Automatic Gearbox with rebuilt Rear Differential. The braking systems have been overhauled and up-rated with a new Servo fitted. The suspension has been upgraded with six Gaz Shock Absorbers and Springs all completely Polybushed and Solid Mount Steering Bushes.
The wiring loom has been completely replaced and all exterior lights are new with Xenons at the front replacing the notoriously poor originals. The interior has been completely and beautifully re-trimmed in Burgundy hide and XK8 seats have been fitted to improve comfort along with a new air-conditioning system. The dashboard dials are all new and the dashboard has been given the Series 1 E-Type look with an Aluminium centre panel. To bring the car up to date the radio has a Parrot (Bluetooth) and iPod connection.
After a few seconds with the ignition on which allows the fuel pumps to prime the car starts easily and quickly settles to the familiar V12 burble. The automatic gearbox engages Drive with a light movement and immediately the car moves off the mark there is the realisation that this something very different indeed. With 6.0 litres and we believe over 300 bhp on tap the road ahead is consumed voraciously; with just enough road noise to engage the driver; and provide a perfect balance of classic Jaguar appeal and modern convenience. The steering is both light and precise so corners come and go, this car certainly gives confidence to the driver and if brakes are needed they wipe off the speed without drama.
This E-Type has an independent valuation that is over six figures and with £40,000 being today's cost of an ordinary donor car plus 2,400 man hours we estimate that this car would cost a minimum of £120,000+ to copy, not to mention at least a year's wait while the work is done. An E-Type you can drive every day? We think so!
