Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP

Vehicle Price: GBP 37,500
Advert Reference Number: 13422

A spacious four door four seat open tourer, bodied by Kitchener & Woodiwiss, probably in the 1970s, in sound condition, with great potential for further improvements. The car runs and drives well, with a nice, quiet engine, which pulls well. Just returned from the USA and now back on its original UK registration number – something which is always pleasing. Here is an opportunity to acquire an open, pre-war Rolls-Royce for a very sensible figure, and prepare it in your own way to suit your own requirements.

Chassis No. GHL23 Reg. No. ACL 488 £37,500

Snippets: Miss Mabel Anne Pearson – carpets, property & sugar.
Miss Mabel’s family connections on her paternal side included Sir Edwin James Pearson (grandfather), 3rd Viscount Lifford (great-grandfather) and on her maternal side Daniel Sutton (property developer who upon his death in 1842 left an estate circa £500,000 which would be in excess of £42m today). The Sutton family were involved in cloth manufacturing & carpets; the property portfolio included land in Kensington, Islington, Champneys (1900 sold to the Rothschilds) and a share in a sugar plantation in British Guiana known as Ann’s Grove & Two Friends – in 1836 the owners of this sugar plantation (Rogers, Watson, Manning, Holme & Sutton) were awarded compensation totalling £21,109 for their 413 slaves. Miss Mabel Pearson never married and upon her death in 1957 GHL23 was sold at auction by Knight Frank & Rutley as was the family home of Millfield House at Berkhamstead. GHL23 was later re-bodied by K W Bodies Ltd of Blackpool also known as Kitchener & Woodiwiss who evolved from wheelwrights into carriage builders for PSV & HGVs such as Commer Avengers & Seddon MK 4s.
