Ferrari 308

Vehicle Price: GBP 59,995
Advert Reference Number: 13364

Perhaps one of the most recognisable designs ever penned for Ferrari by Pininfarina is that of the 308 GTB which was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975; the 308 was an instant hit and it came to define late '70s and early '80s sports cars. The power-plant was a transversely mounted V8 of a 90 degree configuration, with belt-driven twin overhead camshafts. Suspension was all-independent.
At the 1977 Frankfurt Motor Show the Targa topped 308 GTS was introduced. All GTS's used a wet sump engine and were steel-bodied and featured a removable roof panel with grained satin black finish, which can be stowed behind the seats when not in use.
In 1980 Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection was added and coupled to a Marelli MED 803A Digiplex electronic ignition system, incorporating a coil, distributor and ignition module for each bank of cylinders. These modified engines produced 211 bhp, whilst the whole car weighed in at just under 1,300 kilos
Our example presented in Rosso Red with Beige leather was first registered in Milan Italy in September 1981. In September 2014 the car was imported into the UK having been acquired from a specialist dealer in Belgium.
Over the past two years the last keeper has invested over £6,000 in maintaining this example in very good mechanical condition. Upon arrival in the UK there was an overhaul of the steering and lighting systems to ensure MOT compliance; followed by an engine overhaul, new cam-belts, injectors, oil cooler and pipes etc..
The last MOT issued in February 2016 at 68,000 kilometres (42,300 miles) was Advisory Free. In our opinion this is a good example of an increasingly desirable car which remains very affordable when compared with other Italian exotica.
