Triumph TR3A

Vehicle Price: GBP 29,500

A lovely example, which was subject to major restoration work a few years ago, and consequently in excellent condition, very clean, sharp and smart throughout. Very nicely finished in red, with red interior and black hood & side screens, corresponding with the original specification sheet, which also confirms that the car was built between 7.30 and 9.30am on Tuesday, 20th September, 1960! Benefits from steering rack conversion, shown on an invoice along with many others for parts supplied in the large folder of history which is included with the car. Has unleaded head conversion, fitted with overdrive, and to be sold, prepared, serviced and newly MoT tested until April 2017.

Snippets: The RAF & The Red Line
Although the identity of the first owner is unknown we do know that the 2nd owner was John Randolph Cox, ex RAF who used and enjoyed the car during the 1960s/70s. His position within the RAF was one of “Electronics Trouble-shooter” and John purchased the car whilst he was on secondment to RAF Linton-On-Ouse (his base was actually RAF Henlow). In 1960 & 1961 the perimeter track of RAF Linton-on-Ouse was used as a Motor Racing circuit, however due to an accident involving a car which was driven by a RAF Officer and a flag marshal (who was killed) the venue was never used again. In tribute to the River Ouse the station motto is "A Flumine Impugnamus" meaning “From the mighty river we strike". The 3rd owner of the Triumph was Michael Trainor who says that he once took the car up to the red line “just to see what it would do!” His comment was “quite an experience” which I think says it all!
