Bentley MK VI

Vehicle Price: GBP 27,500
Advert Reference Number: 12977

A good, wholesome and correct example of an early MKVI, which incorporates - amongst other things – the un-pleated leather interior of the first cars built, which is rather appealing, in this case in light beige which contrasts very nicely with the black paintwork. The car is sound in wind & limb, drives very well, with sprightly performance, good brakes, steering, etc, and will make an ideal car to use, enjoy and be proud of. Serviced, prepared, and MoT tested until March 2016. Driven over 500 miles by ourselves, with no trouble at all.

Sir Alfred Hammond Aykroyd 1894/1965 (known as Flash Harry) was a scion of two industrious families – the Hammonds Bradford Brewery (his mother Emma was the granddaughter of James Hammond) and the Ffrith Carpet (Sir Alfred’s great uncle was Sir Algernon Ffirth). Hammonds was initially founded by Joseph Pullen & sold his brewery to James Hammond in 1860, by the time James died in 1875 he owned 35 public houses! In 1919 Sir Alfred married Sylvia Thorne (widow of Lt Col Foster Newton Thorne who had died in Shatt al Adhaim, Mesopotamia in 1917 leaving Sylvia with an 11 month daughter Vivian). Sir Alfred purchased B119BG the same year that he became Chairman of Ffirth & Sons, Director of Hammonds Brewery & the Baronetcy – a busy year by all accounts.
