A handsome car, ‘razor edge’ in design, in good, very sound condition, and incorporating some lovely touches such as ‘trouser crease’ wings, a large sliding sunroof, working well, unusual tinted glass, chrome edged sun visors, Circassian Walnut woodwork with ivory stringing and an impressive set of lamps & horns. Snippets: Family names:

Mrs Adrian Gibson took delivery of GZR22 in Sept 1938 at Nr 60 Park Lane, W1, Gibson is the family name of the Barons Ashbourne and according to Webster’s Royal Red Book of 1938 occupants of Park Lane included Baroness Goldsmid, Philip Sassoon (art collector & MP) & Henry Behrens (smallest man in the world). In 1946 GZR22 is shown as being with S. Winton Esq of Great Portland Street – Winton being the family name of the Scottish peerage of the Earls of Eglinton & Winton whose family can be traced back to the 15th century. Within a few months the next owner on the chassis cards is shown as being Mrs. E. Cadbury whose husband, Egbert Cadbury was a scion of the chocolate family & a decorated WWI pilot. During the 1930s & 40s the family resided at Beacon Lodge in Lymington which had been built for Colonel Francis Adams DSO appeared to continually rent the property out – tenants included Bishop Bloomfield (Bishop of London), the Hon Grant Berkeley (1800/81) he proposed that ladies be allowed in the gallery at the House of Commons; Sir William Goshen (British Ambassador for Germany) & Sir William Gordon QC. It would seem that the Cadbury’s enjoyed their time at Beacon Lodge with neighbours recalling how they would fire the cannon on a regular basis! In 1950 GZR22 had moved down the coast to be with Harry John Loveless a Veterinary Surgeon.
