Luxury Brokers International is proud to present this exceptionally rare 1919 Cleveland Six Model 40 Roadster. The Cleveland Motor Company was in business from 1919 to 1926 as a subsidiary of Chalmers, then building two basic models. The Model 40 was the larger more powerful option and came in many different styles. This particular car was owned by a long time Maine owner who completed a hobbyist restoration in 1997. Finished in beige with light brown fenders, black leather upholstery, and tan top this Cleveland has aged to that of a #3+ quality car that can be considered a driver. The car retains many features of originality, but has seen a few non-period updates completed by the restorer. During the restoration it is evident that the entire car did come apart and every panel made straight with excellent panel fitment. The driveline appears original and runs as if it received a rebuild or at least has been well serviced. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition, starts easily, runs and drives with no known issues. Fuel delivery is provided by a period correct Zenith Carburetor, and spark provided by a Bosch type distributor. The 3-speed transmission works well in all forward gears, and reverse. The rear end appears to possibly be a later rear axle, while the brakes have been converted to Hydraulic which is not period correct but does make for a much more effective pedal. Cosmetically the car shows a few minor cracks and scuffs but overall is very presentable and in good condition. The glass does have a crack in the lower portion and the top is in excellent condition. The interior shows well with newer upholstery still in excellent condition, good floors and very nicely done steering wheel and dash. Most interior appointments are in working order, including speedometer, battery indicator, and oil pressure which reads 90% at all times. The Dash light and clock are present but currently not working. The trunk is tidy and does have a modern lock on the rear with updated hinges, but is very usable and presentable. Tires are beginning to crack, but are still usable as is. Included in the sale are the side curtains, wind wings, two period license plates, a brass air pump, spare, previous ownership documentation, old advertisements, and photos of the restoration. All things considered this is an excellent opportunity to own a very rare early American Automobile. As a 6 cylinder automobile from the time this car represents excellent value for money compared to the likes of the Ford Model T and will make an excellent addition to any collection.
