MG B (1978)

First registered August 1978 this MGB Roadster is in our opinion a most special car and should not be confused with a "Run-of-the-mill" example. Acquired in 2014 by the most recent owner as a time warp car with just 3,500 miles recorded having been dry stored for over 30 years. The Bodywork and chassis at acquisition were, we are advised, in almost factory condition. Notwithstanding this it was then consigned for a comprehensive tailor-made upgrade at a cost of over £20,000.

The following works have been executed to the highest standard:

Full Hoyle all round independent suspension at a cost of £10,000, New 6 Inch Chrome Wires at the front Rear, Rear Disc Brakes, All round Gaz Shock Absorbers with factory tuned set-up, 7/8 Anti-roll Bar, Electric Power Steering.

Under the bonnet we have: New Starter Motor, New Overdrive Unit, Electronic Ignition, B & N Filters and Ford Sierra Back-axle, Stainless Steel Exhaust mated to sports manifold.

To the exterior, Gloss Black finish, original paint-work, not re-sprayed save the Aluminium MGC Bonnet, New Mohair Hood, Front Valance with discreet lip Spoiler, improving handling at 60 mph+.

On the inside we have: Dynamat Soundproofing to the whole tub and boot area. MG Owners Club Seats, Electric Windows, Leather Dash, Door Cards and Console, New Re-Calibrated Instruments, including clock, concealed DAB Radio with Bluetooth and CD Player, Original Radiomobile Radio still fitted. Battery cut-off switch.

The finished product is an almost as new MGB Roadster with the right upgrades for modern driving, warranted by the vendor at 8,760 miles as he has knowledge of the two previous keepers This is a very rewarding 60's reversion with great handling, but retaining the distinctive B Exhaust note. Well priced, we feel, compared with the costs of building a similar example on a Heritage Shell. Although this car is faster than a standard MGB there is still scope to beef-up the performance; which remains in the hands of the next owner.
