A correct, undisturbed and very appealing example of a late S1, benefiting from power steering. The car has been with one owner since 1969 – 46 years – and for much of that time has been unused, which, in conjunction with various paperwork in the car’s file, leads us to believe that the mileage showing of 96,000 is genuine. Finished in delightful Velvet Green, so dark it almost looks black, with original beige leather interior in excellent condition, still soft, and with no rips or tears. The woodwork is appealingly original, and the chrome is all in good order too. Offered re-commissioned, serviced and MoT tested following its period of idleness, and complete with a virtually unused, original toolkit. Not a pristine car, but if you like your cars to be unmolested and original, with patina and character, this will very likely be of interest to you. Nice, short registration number as well!

Snippets: Veterinary Chemists:

Delivered to Mr Davey at Chapman & Frearson Ltd of Grimsby, Veterinary Chemists whose origins can be traced back to two separate entities – Chapman & Son who in 1902 were cattle oil manufacturers and to Cyril Douglas Frearson (Chemist). Their patents included Bovinyl, Bescondi (1926) and Haystat. Frearson’s premises in Grimsby had been built by Baron Sir Alec Black (1872/1942) (fishing trawler owner) as fishing premises & during WWI were used as a national shell company. Sir Alec was a gentleman of character who also owned racehorses and items of art – including “The Painted Bridge” by the Edinburgh artist Sir William Russell Flint. In the 1980s the Chapman & Frearson herd of pedigree Hereford Cattle produced “Riblong Lady Driver” who was runner up at the Royal Highland Show in 1986.
