Jaguar XJ6 Coupe (1976)

First registered January 1976 (P Reg) this Jaguar XJ 4.2 Coupé which is finished in Regency Red with Black Everflex Roof with electric Sunroof and Tan Hide is a rare Manual/Overdrive example. Acquired when new by a Yorkshire gentleman farmer it was then sold at around two years of age to a London based Dr who kept the car until 2014 when it passed to its most recent keeper with approximately 95,000 miles recorded. Therefore a three owner car which would appear to have a genuine mileage recording, but we cannot warrant this given the age of the car.


A total of 6,487 4.2 Litre XJ Series 2 Coupés were produced between 1975 and 1978. The Coupé was based on the short-wheelbase version of the XJ. The coupé's elongated doors were made out of a lengthened standard XJ front door where two front door shells were grafted together with a single outer skin. Perhaps without realising it at the time Jaguar had created what would become one of the most desirable and rare XJ’s.


Our example comes with a body of paperwork, old MoT’s and service invoices and understandably the bulk of these relate to the long term ownership between 1978 and 2018.


If you have been looking for a XJ C you will know that typically two categories of car are generally available. Firstly, the project cars which will cost an absolute fortune to restore properly and secondly the show examples with eye-watering price tags. Good cars that are reasonably priced rarely become available. We believe that they are being retained by their owners as it would seem possible that the XJC, given its rarity could overtime start to chase E-Type values.
