Caterham Seven (1997)

With Spring nearly upon us, it seems timely that we can offer this bright Caterham in time for someone to have some wind in their hair fun!
This is a 1997 Caterham 7 Super Sprint fitted with the 1700 Ford Crossflow engine, 5 speed gearbox and De Dion Rear Axle. It has been in local ownership for the last 13 years and the owner is reluctantly selling as he rarely has time to use the car. As a result, the mileage is very low at just under 28,000 miles and all old MOT tests back this up. The car is nicely specified with Tillet race seats, Tonneau cover and half hood and clip off Momo steering wheel. It also has an E100 Immobiliser fitted. The car comes with a wealth of history - old invoices and MOTs - and a spare key.

It has recently been treated to a set of brand new tyres, a new fuel pump and the wheels have been refurbished. The twin Weber Carburetors are also a recent addition and combined with the exhaust, give the car an unmistakable sound.
We have driven this car for a few miles and can vouch for how much fun it is. Once the revs climb to over 3,000, the Weber Carbs really come into their own and the power comes on in leaps and bounds. The acceleration brings a wide smile but the real joy is in the way the car handles. Anyone who has driven a well set up Caterham 7 will know how direct the steering feels and how controllable the power is - any time the back end wants to breakaway through over zealous use of the right foot, it is easy to get back into line with swift and minimal input through the steering wheel.
This car is frankly a hoot to drive and the new owner will doubtless have a lot of fun over the coming months.
