A particularly sound and correct example of an early S Type, which is wonderfully sound bodily and with an excellent chassis and underside, showing none of the rust problems that these cars frequently suffer from. The car has recently benefitted from considerable recent attention to braking system, a new stainless steel exhaust system, and a great deal more, amounting to about $14,000 spent in the USA, just before it left for the UK. The car is driving just as it should, performing very well, with correct braking, steering, transmission, etc, following the work above, which is documented with invoices. Finished in a special colour scheme of sand and maroon as originally specified when new. A good, wholesome car, offered, prepared, MoT'd until February 2020 and UK registered.

Chassis No. B292LAN Reg. No. 259 XVB

Snippets: The Puritan
The first owner of B292LAN was Charles Wallour (1881/1979) who in the 1920s was a director of the industries department of the Babson Statistical Institute. The Babson Institute was founded in 1904 by Roger W Babson who was famed for predicting the 1929 Great Wall Street Crash. In 1917 Charles Wallour married Miss Frances Chapin and after the wedding the couple sailed away in a flower-laden motor launch, after the honeymoon the couple started married life at West Tenth Street in New York. Frances Chapin was descended from Samuel Chapin an early settler of Springfield, Massachusetts – Samuel was later known as “The Puritan” – other famous family members include two US Presidents – Cleveland & Taft, a Canadian PM Bennett; the banker J. P. Morgan, TV reality star Kris Jenner and a world champion sailor Dave Chapin. Charles’ son Chapin Wallour (1919/2016) inherited his father’s love of sailing and motorcars – he owned a 1930s Bentley convertible and a Herreshoff sloop as well as his father’s genes – with Charles being 98 when he died & Chapin being 97!
