A delightful, very correct, sound and appealing example of a rare, left hand drive S1 from the last year of production, incorporating various later features including power steering and high compression engine. The car is wonderfully solid, both body-wise and chassis & underside, and is sharp and undisturbed in many ways. Finished in its original colour of Sable with tan leather interior. The boot area is clean and tidy, with the original black mat, large tools in their clips and small ones in the correct tray. Driving very well and offered UK registered.

It would appear from the chassis cards that the 1st owner was Robert Lovett (1895/1986) of Providence – who served under President Truman & became the 4th Secretary of Defence. Robert’s father was president & chairman of the Union Pacific Railroad and a director of the Western Union and the City Bank of New York, Robert’s wife Adele Brown was a scion of the New York Brown banking family which later merged with Harriman & Co. B11LGD was sold in 1985 (the prior to Lovett’s death) to another politician - Joseph Paolino of Rhode Island, he became acting Mayor of Rhode Island when he was under 30 years old! His later career included becoming Ambassador to Malta under Clinton’s Presidency, after withdrawing from politics Joseph turned to real estate & joined the family firm which had been started by his grandfather in 1900. Later owners included Thomas Langdon Cheney of Noank and Tim Csanadi of Fall River whose manufacturing company produces bolts – their bolt-making machine was custom built in Belgium in 2016, it took over 12 months from design to delivery and the machine weighed in at a hefty 127,000 pounds!
