Introduced in October 1963, the 3000 MKIII was the most refined version of the popular “Big Healey” model line and was the last of Donald Healey's creations. The MKIII offered amenities such as roll-up windows carried over from the BJ7 series, burled walnut veneer dash, revised center console, and updated rear suspension in Phase II examples. Built between 1963 and 1967, over 17,000 were produced between Phase I and Phase II cars. Achieving 150 horse power via a twin SU carbureted inline 6 cylinder engine, the MKIII raced from 0-60 in 9.8 seconds; fast for the time period. Today, the MKIII variant is the most coveted of the 3000's and is one of the quintessential British motor cars representing lasting, and consistent value among car collectors.

This particular Austin Healey 3000 MKIII, chassis number HBJ8L/35886 and engine number 29KRUH/10552 is a numbers matching example with 1000 miles since restoration by marque specialist BRC of Philadelphia. Built on April 14, 1966, and dispatched on May 2, 1966, to New York, USA, this car was originally finished in Ivory White with a Red interior and a black top. It left the factory fitted with wire wheels, a heater, adjustable steering column and a Black tonneau cover. Not much is known about the early life of the car but much like all of BRC's restoration, there was not a nut or bolt left untouched during the restoration. The car has lived in California since restoration so it has not seen any adverse weather and no salted roads. The car is finished to the highest degree and with only 1000 miles since restoration, it still shows almost as fresh as when it left BRC's facility. Included with the car are the spare wheel and BMIHT Heritage Certificate.
